Project: Public Space / Media Space

Read - Urban Screens: Discovering the potential of outdoor screens for urban society First Monday, Special Issue #4:

Scout out locations.

Ask yourself:

•Who is exposed to the site, who lives and works around the site & who commutes/drives/walks through the site?

•Who is being addressed by the current signage and media(if any exists), and what attitudes, feelings and thoughts are the designers trying to trigger in their target audience.

Select a site and compose a proposal with a digital mock-up and a written proposal that addresses the following questions:

•How does your design respond to the site, icluding those who are exposed to the site, those who live and work around the site & those who commute/drive/walk through the site - in short who is your audience and how are you addressing them?

•How does your design compare and contrast with the existing signage and media in the site?

You should approach this project with the intent of actually mounting your designs in the space you have chosen.

As Always - Detailed project parameters and software demonstrations will be given in class.
